How we work - We take pride in our work. This means in addition to preserving beautiful windows, we like to preserve the harmony of your home. Our craftsmen always use polythene backed dust sheets to contain the mess and clean up after themselves. We work hard to keep disruption to a minimum in your home.

Step 1 – Assessment and quotation

One of our sash window experts will visit you to assess your windows. His survey will identify which areas of your windows need work, what needs replacing and what needs repair. Following the survey, you will be sent a fully-itemised, no obligation estimate. It is impossible to fully realise the extent of repair needed to some windows during the survey however we will always discuss any further work required before it is undertaken.

We will also advise you on a timescale as to when we might start work. How long it will take before we can start work will depend on whether any new replacement sashes need to be made. It typically takes one to two weeks to make bespoke replacement sashes in our joinery shop, more complex joinery items will take longer.

Step 2 – Renovation

Every window we renovate is bespoke. Our work is dictated entirely by what each individual window needs. Where we can leave a window alone, we will. The renovation of your window may include some or all of work listed below:

• Replacement of rotten wood (this may be a segment of the box lining or a whole piece of softwood for the sash or hardwood for the sill as required)
• Renovation of damaged wood (tenon joints to be repaired with solvent free epoxy resin repair compound as required)
• Replacement of unsalvageable sashes
• Renovation of damaged sashes
• Replacement of damaged glass (bottom sashes to be fitted with laminated safety glass as required)
• Repair or replacement of cords and weights
• Releasing of any sashes painted shut

Step 3 – Insulation

Our special draught-proofing system is applied to every window, minimising draughts, noise and dust ingress. The system may also be applied to exterior doors and casement windows on request.

Step 4 – Priming

All new wooden surfaces are primed, ready for painting.

Step 5 – Additional services
